THE BAND
The Soultones of Swing are a high energy band combining a variety of styles to produce a show that has appeal to all ages. They play a large dose of Swing, both classic (Glenn Miller) and revival (Brian Setzer), along with some Blues (Blues Brothers), Jazz (Louis Armstrong), Latin (Santana), and Horn Driven Rock (Chicago). Their mixture of styles makes them an ideal band for family oriented events such as festivals, charity fundraisers, and church events.
The members of the band are highly acomplished musicians. All have formal training with several that either have or are pursuing degrees in music. Everyone has been playing individually for decades and do it for the joy of playing and performing.
The band is the brain child of Brad and Lorie Van Cleve. While living overseas, they missed playing in the Swing bands and Pit Orchestras they had been in while living in the States. Finding several other ex-patriots, they formed the Swinging Knights. Upon returning to the St. Louis area they joined some local swing bands where they met future members of the SoS. Wanting to play more up tempo music, they decided to put together their own band. It didn't take long to find other musicians that, also, wanted to play higher energy music with a heavy dose of horns. In no time the Soultones of Swing was formed.
